BAYSIDE COLLEGE RESIDENCE LIFE GUIDELINES

ResLife at Bayside College is a privilege, not a right. We have been blessed by a partnership with Bayside Kingdom Builders to provide housing for our students, and because of this, we want to be good stewards of what God has given us. ResLife is provided from mid-August through early May. Year-round housing is not available at this time.

College Residence Life is CLOSED for Winter Break, December 19 - January 7. No students or RAs will be allowed to remain in ResLife during this time.

Compliance with all rules listed below is required of all students. Repeated failure to comply with these rules may warrant the removal of a student from ResLife. If a student is removed from ResLife for this reason they are still required to pay the current semester's ResLife rate.

EXPECTATIONS

During the course of your living at the girls or guys houses, you will be expected to share the responsibility of taking care of the home with your housemates. We ask that you take these responsibilities seriously and work with your housemates to upkeep your homes.

RESIDENT ASSISTANTS (RAs)

Each home will have designated RAs to help assist in the overall well-being of the homes. They are to be treated at the same level of honor and respect as staff. Students should go to the RAs with any concerns or questions. RAs are here to help you.

GENERAL HOUSE RULES

Students will be responsible for providing their own food. House meetings will occur once a month and will be hosted by the RAs. Attendance is required. When you are unsure about something, ask your RA. The RA must be notified regarding any and all medical emergencies. Speak to and treat housemates with patience and respect. Take care of your responsibilities each week. If they are not taken care of, there will be consequences deemed necessary by the ResLife team. If this becomes a regular pattern of behavior, you will be required to meet with the Bayside College Resident Directors for additional consequences. Animals are not permitted. Service animals must be approved by the Operations Manager.

Weapon possession rules: No unauthorized weapons including, but not limited to, firearms, BB guns, pellet rifles, tasers, stun guns, guns, swords, etc. Our only exception is pepper spray for self-defense in emergency situations only.

Alcohol possession or consumption of any kind is not permitted in ReLife, regardless of the student's age, and results in immediate removal from ResLife.

Candle use is prohibited per apartment lease agreement. Students must not put any holes in walls (no nails, or thumbtacks etc.). Students may use command strips to hang items if necessary.

FOOD AND KITCHEN GUIDELINES

Students are responsible for providing their own food. Only eat the food that you have purchased for yourself. Please do not eat your housemates' food. Clean up the kitchen better than you found it. Remove your trash, wipe off stovetops, counters, sinks, etc. Rinse dishes and put them in the dishwasher after each use, or hand wash and put away.

BEDROOM AND BATHROOM GUIDELINES

The bathroom is to be shared by designated housemates. Work together to determine a schedule and create designated storage areas. Clean up the bathroom after each use. Make your bed daily. Make sure your room is neat and orderly before you leave the house. Do not bring food into your room, eat-in dining areas. Clothes must be put away at all times. Students are responsible for their own towels and toiletries.

Members of the opposite sex are not allowed in bedroom areas, no matter the circumstances. If someone is caught with someone of the opposite sex in their bedroom, they will be automatically placed on the Disciplinary Track.

*There will be weekly room checks throughout the year. Please keep your rooms to the expectations at all times.

LAUNDRY ROOM GUIDELINES

Collaborate with your housemates to determine a laundry schedule. Once the laundry is done, remove it from the dryer and laundry room immediately. Clean the dryer vent after each use. Students are responsible for their own laundry detergent.

CHORES

ALL housemates will be responsible for having weekly chores. RAs will determine a chore schedule for all housemates. If chores are not completed by the end of the week, consequences will be enforced by RAs and Resident Directors. Chores include, but are not limited to: cleaning the kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, taking out the trash, sweeping/vacuuming the floors, etc. General cleaning supplies and living supplies will be provided. i.e. dish soap, toilet paper, paper towels.

AUTOMOBILES

Students are to park in designated parking areas. Music volume should not be heard outside the vehicle. Students must register their car with Bayside College. Students are limited to one vehicle.

Fri.-Sat.: 8:00am-10:00pm (Same gender) 10:00am-10:00pm (Opposite gender)

Visitors are permitted as long as all other housemates are comfortable. In order for visitors to stay overnight in ResLife, they have to be approved by the RA, and then they must go through the visitor request process before they are permitted to stay in ResLife. Visitors are permitted to stay overnight once approved through the visitor request process. They are only allowed to stay for up to three nights at a time, and these visits can only happen once a month. All visitors are to conduct themselves in a God-honoring fashion. Visitors of the opposite sex can be in the common areas ONLY when at least three or more people are present. Specifically, they are allowed in the living room, dining room, and kitchen areas, and NEVER in the bedroom areas. They are not eligible to stay overnight!

CURFEW

All housemates must abide by the midnight curfew. Curfew extensions may be granted for students who are working. Extensions must be approved by the RA in advance. If you are going to be late for curfew, it must be communicated with your RAs. Students staying offsite more than 3 nights per month will need to seek a special exception from the Resident Directors. This will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

QUIET HOURS

Weekdays 9:00pm-8:00am and Weekends 10:00pm-10:00am

Students who are excessively loud or disrupt other tenants both during and around the above quiet hours are subject to immediate eviction per the apartment lease requirements. Large sound systems and speakers are prohibited. Should the eviction take place, Bayside College will not be offering a secondary housing option.

CONFLICT

Living in a community of people can be challenging at times. Conflict will occur, but it must be handled in a loving, healthy, mature, and Christ-like manner. Go directly to the person to resolve the issue. If the conflict continues, go to your RA. If this does not resolve the issue, your RA will involve the Resident Directors or other Bayside College staff. Gossip and bullying will not be tolerated under any circumstances. YLX Students are not permitted to be alone in a house with any student under the age of 18. There must be two or more other students present for a minor to enter a ResLife apartment. Additionally, a minor may not ever be in a room alone with another student in ResLife housing.

DISCIPLINE

We want to be good stewards of what God has given us. Because of this, if expectations are not met, disciplinary action will be taken. This will be determined by the RAs and the Resident Directors of Bayside College.

By signing below I recognize that I am agreeing to abide by the Bayside College Residence Life Guidelines during my time in ResLife at Bayside College.

Bayside College partners with Marlowe apartments to provide housing for our students. Our current structure allows for up to six students and an RA in three bedroom two bathroom apartments. Due to this partnership, students are required to adhere to Marlowe's lease expectations as well as Bayside College ResLife Guidelines. The highlights from Marlowe's lease agreement are listed below.

You also agree to notify us if you or any occupant registers as a sex offender in any state. Informing us of criminal convictions or sex offender registry does not waive our right to evict you.

You agree to communicate and conduct yourself at all times in a lawful, courteous, and reasonable manner when interacting with our employees, agents, independent contractors, and vendors; other residents, occupants, guests or invitees; or any other person on the premises. You agree not to engage in any abusive behavior, either verbal or physical, or any form of intimidation or aggression directed at our employees, agents, independent contractors, and vendors; other residents, occupants, guests or invitees; or any other person on the premises. You agree not to use our corporate names, slogans, images, photos, logos, internet domain names, trademarks, copyrights or trade names. Any violation of this paragraph shall be a material breach of this Lease and will entitle us to exercise all rights and remedies under the lease and law.

We may have unauthorized or illegally parked vehicles towed under an appropriate statute. A vehicle is unauthorized or illegally parked in the apartment community if it:
